Summary
Before First Time Use
- Unpack your flatware and check all items carefully before discarding the packaging.
- For the first few weeks, we recommend handwashing new stainless steel flatware.
- Use warm water, mild soap and a soft sponge, then dry immediately.
- Once conditioned through use, your flatware can safely go in the dishwasher.
Use & Care
General tips
- Rinse your flatware before placing it in the dishwasher.
- Don’t soak flatware in water for long periods—this can dull the finish.
- Avoid acidic or citrus-based detergents like lemon: they can damage the surface.
If you use a dishwasher:
- Use a mild, non-citrus detergent.
- Place knives, forks and spoons in the basket with handles facing down.
- Don’t sort by type—mixing items helps the water jets clean more effectively.
- Avoid overloading the dishwasher.
- Choose a delicate or eco cycle.
- Remove flatware promptly after the programme finishes. Can’t open the dishwasher right away? Crack the door to release steam and dry your flatware with a cloth to prevent corrosion.
Stainless steel flatware
Once conditioned through a few weeks of handwashing, stainless steel flatware can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Prefer a long-lasting shine? Stick to handwashing.
Flatware with plastic handles
Plastic parts may dull, scratch or become damaged in the dishwasher. To keep them looking their best, handwash only.
Multi-material, coated, plated or enamelled flatware
This type of stainless steel is technically dishwasher-safe, but we recommend handwashing for best results. Use warm water, mild soap, and a soft sponge. Dry immediately with a soft cloth.
Rust prevention & care tips
- Always rinse off food residues like mayo, eggs, salt or vinegar right after use—this helps prevent corrosion, staining and pitting.
- Got a rust stain? Use a quality metal polish and rub gently but firmly. Surface stains will fade, but deep pitting may be permanent.
- Light discolouration? Try a paste of baking soda and water.
- No need to polish your stainless steel. Want to bring back the original shine? A stainless steel cleaner can help—and also keep blades cleaner.
- Keep your flatware away from open flames or direct heat.
- Avoid storing flatware in plastic bags or materials that trap moisture.
